Novembre Discography :

Origin Rome, Italy
Genres Progressive metal, Death/doom metal, Gothic metal

Starting out in 1990 as an Italian death metal band (then called Catacomb), Novembre grew to develop a unique, atmospheric sound. Although most of their lyrics are in English, vocalist Carmelo Orlando sings in Italian occasionally in many of their songs. They released their first two albums, Wish I Could Dream It Again and Arte Novecento, through Italian label Polyphemus. In the mid-90's, they signed with Century Media to release their next three albums, Classica, Novembrine Waltz, and Dreams d'Azur. More recently, Novembre signed to Peaceville Records, to release their sixth album Materia, which took on a progressive rock influence, and their seventh album, The Blue, which saw a return to addition of death metal-esque passages. A recent announement, made by the band, gave the news that Novembre is currently writing new material.

Albums :

1994 - Wish I Could Dream It Again
1996 - Arte Novecento
2000 - Classica
2001 - Novembrine Waltz
2002 - Dreams D'azur
2006 - Materia
2007 - The Blue

Necrophobic Discography :

Origin Stockholm, Sweden
Genres Death metal, Blackened death metal

Necrophobic is a Swedish death metal band formed in 1989 by drummer Joakim Sterner and guitarist David Parland. It is believed that the band named themselves after a Slayer song from the 1986 seminal album Reign in Blood. The pair played with a 'revolving door' line-up of musicians until the permanent addition of bassist Tobias Sidegård. This addition occurred prior to recording their debut 7" Single, "The Call" in early 1992.

With this line up and the addition of Anders Strokirk on vocals who replaced Stefan Harrvik (who had sung on the "Unholy Prophecies" demo and "The Call" 7" EP) the band entered Sunlight Studio in March 1993 and recorded the debut "The Nocturnal Silence" album. The band had previously worked with the Wild Rags label and store for its singles.

Following the addition of second guitarist Martin Halfdahn, Necrophobic released a four-song extended play, Spawned By Evil, in 1996. This was a teaser for the full-length release, Darkside, which came out later that same year. This album featured a guest appearance by Jon of Dissection on the song Nailing the Holy One. Third Antichrist was released in fall 2000 through Black Mark Records. A switch to Hammerheart Records led to Bloodhymns. Necrophobic's Death To All was issued in May 2009 and won the title of the Album Of The Month on Webzine. This album was the band's second for Regain Records.

The lyrics generally tend to revolve around darkness, evil, anti-Christianity and Viking mythology.

Albums :

1993 - The Nocturnal Silence
1997 - Darkside
1999 - The Third Antichrist
2002 - Bloodhymns
2006 - Hrimthursum (Pt 1 - Pt 2)
2009 - Death to All

Nightwish Discography :

Origin Kitee, Finland
Genres Symphonic metal, gothic metal, power metal

Nightwish is a symphonic power gothic metal band from Kitee, Finland, formed in 1996 by songwriter/keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen, guitarist Emppu Vuorinen, and former vocalist Tarja Turunen. Nightwish is Finland's most successful band with more than 7 million albums & singles sold worldwide, 1 silver award, 11 gold awards and 30 platinum awards

Although Nightwish has been prominent in their home country since the release of their first single, “The Carpenter” (1997) and debut album Angels Fall First, they did not achieve worldwide fame until the release of the albums Oceanborn, Wishmaster and Century Child, which were released in 1998, 2000 and 2002 respectively. Their 2004 album, Once, which has sold more than 1 million copies, led to Nightwish video clips being shown on MTV in the United States and inclusion of their music in US movie soundtracks. Their biggest US hit single, “Wish I Had an Angel” (2004), made it onto three US film soundtracks as a means to promote their North American tour.[7] The band produced three more singles and two music videos for the album, as well as “Sleeping Sun”, from the 2005 “best of” compilation album, Highest Hopes, prior to vocalist Tarja Turunen’s dismissal.

In May 2007, former Alyson Avenue frontwoman, Anette Olzon, was revealed as Turunen’s replacement, and in the autumn, the band released a new album - Dark Passion Play. The supporting tour started on October 6, 2007 and ended on September 19, 2009. A new E.P./live album, Made in Hong Kong (And in Various Other Places), was released in March 2009 as a MCD/DVD, and a seventh studio album is in production, set for release in 2011.

Nevermore Discography :

Origin Tampa, Florida, United States
Origin Seattle, Washington, United States
Genres Heavy metal, thrash, power, progressive and neo-classical metal

Nevermore started in the beginning of the 1990s, when the band Sanctuary was pressured by its recording label to change its musical style, switching from heavy metal to grunge, which was obtaining mainstream success at the time due to bands such as Nirvana and Pearl Jam (both, incidentally, also from Seattle). Two members of the band—vocalist Warrel Dane and bassist Jim Sheppard—didn't agree with the change, and thus proceeded to create a project of their own: Nevermore.

By the end of 1994, the band assumed a stable line-up, which saw the additions of drummer Van Williams and former Sanctuary touring guitarist Jeff Loomis. In 1995 Nevermore released its debut album through Century Media Records. This album received much attention and specialized review, as its release was followed by a European tour with Blind Guardian and a North American tour with Death.

Second guitarist Pat O'Brien joined the band prior to the release of the EP In Memory and also took part in the recording of the subsequent album The Politics of Ecstasy, both from 1996. O'Brien left Nevermore to play in Cannibal Corpse, and guitarist Tim Calvert (who played for the band Forbidden), who had previously contributed to Nevermore through songwriting, replaced O'Brien as Nevermore's guitarist.

Albums :

1992 - Utopia (Demo)
1995 - Nevermore
1996 - In Memory (Ep)
1996 - Politics Of Ecstasy
1999 - Dreaming Neon Black
2000 - Dead Heart In A Dead World
2000 - Believe In Nothing (Single)
2003 - Enemies Of Reality
2005 - This Godless Endeavor
2008 - The Year Of The Voyager [live] Part1 / Part2
2009 - Manifesto Of Nevermore [best of compilation]

Nirvana Discography :
Origin Aberdeen, Washington, United States
Genres Alternative rock, grunge

Nirvana was an American rock band that was formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987. Nirvana went through a succession of drummers, the longest-lasting being Dave Grohl, who joined the band in 1990.

With the lead single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from the band's second album Nevermind (1991), Nirvana entered into the mainstream, bringing along with it a subgenre of alternative rock called grunge. Other Seattle grunge bands such as Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden had also gained popularity, and as a result, alternative rock in general became a dominant genre on radio and music television in the United States during the early-to-mid-1990s. As Nirvana's frontman, Kurt Cobain found himself referred to in the media as the "spokesman of a generation," with Nirvana being considered the "flagship band" of Generation X.Cobain was uncomfortable with the attention and placed his focus on the band's music, believing the band's message and artistic vision to have been misinterpreted by the public, challenging the band's audience with its third studio album In Utero (1993).

Nirvana's brief run ended with Cobain's death in April 1994, but the band's popularity continued in the years that followed. In 2002, "You Know You're Right," an unfinished demo from the band's final recording session, topped radio playlists around the world. Since their debut, the band has sold over twenty-five million albums in the US alone, and over fifty million worldwide.
